St. David's Day Challenge

St David’s Day is a day of parades, concerts and eisteddfodau (festivals of music, language and culture). Flags are flown. The national anthem is sung with extra fervour. Children go to school in traditional Welsh dress, and people proudly wear pins a daffodil or leak to their lapel.
St David was the greatest figure in the 6th century Welsh Age of Saints, founder of scores of religious communities, and the only native-born patron saint of the countries of Britain and Ireland.
St David died on 1 March – St David’s Day - in 589. He was canonised by Pope Callixtus in the 12th century, and we have celebrated St David’s Day ever since.
In celebration of St. David, and everything Welsh, complete either 2k, 5k, 10k, half or full marathon in one go to earn this huge, stunning medal!
What is a virtual challenge? A virtual challenge can done from any location you choose. You can run, jog, walk, cycle, swim, use a wheelchair - whatever you choose and however you choose to complete a distance. There is no restriction on discipline. We aim to be as inclusive as impossible.
Submitting and Claiming your Medal
You will be emailed a separate link / web page when you sign up, to upload your progress as and when you want to. Your medal will be sent as soon as you 'complete the map' Your submission link should arrive within a few minutes of purchase, please email us at info@racethedistance.com if this doesn't arrive after a few hours.
Checking Your Progress
We have a real-time results system with instant tables, sort-able by age, gender and Country. We also have live tracking 'journeys' with fully interactive maps for our annual and seasonal longer challenges!
All the routes follow real life roads and trails, target the next town along on the map, pass landmarks, cross countries, it's going to be fun!

Uploading your progress could not be easier with our challenges allowing you to upload activities direct from Strava. Do not worry if you do not have Strava, as you can also add activities manually.
Personalised Downloadable Certificate
Each competitor will receive a downloadable personalised challenge certificate with details of their results included on the certificate.
